Saw this on my local radio/tv forum and thought it might be of interest to some here.

In the Seinfeld episode about the marathon runner, when Jerry took Jean-Paul Jean-Paul to a hotel so that he would be on time for the race the next day, Jerry suggested that they wake up to "adult contempo" (as he called it) on the clock radio.

Back in the early to mid 1960s, as a result of many summer trips to New England and being able to pick it up at night in Montreal on my transistor radio, WBZ (Boston) was my favorite radio station. Top 40 music and great "personality" DJs (Bruce Bradley, Dick Summer)
Around 1968, due to more competition from other stations, WBZ decided to change to an adult contemporary format (to my great disappointment). The transition was very subtle. You would tune in to hear the likes of Sunshine Of Your Love or Mony Mony, but they weren't being played. Now you would hear more Vicki Carr and Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66. Many of those easy listening songs were also on the top 40 charts, so the transition was almost unnoticeable, until you listened for a longer period and realized something was going on here. By 1969, the changeover was complete and rock music had disappeared from WBZ.
