Does anyone know the answer to my two questions?

1. Did Elvis Presley record the song "(We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock"? Did RCA ever release it on vinyl or CD?

2. And the same question about the song "Only You (And You Alone)".
Did Elvis Presley ever record it? Did RCA ever release it on vinyl or CD?

I wouldn't know ... I was just referencing what they said in the article.

I hope it is clear why I asked this question. The Billboard 200 LP chart was first published on May 13, 1967.

Highest Debut: The Beatles - "I Want To Hold Your Hand" (No. 45)

Billboard Hot 100 on January 25:

Am I wrong or am I right?
The "Secondhandsongs" website lists Bing Crosby as the performer of that song on the third line in chronological order.
But I think Bob Crosby should be there. His recording scored in Billboard (Most-Played In Juke Boxes) already on February 16, 1946.
Bing Crosby's recording should be listed only after it.

I also noticed this:
Bing Crosby's recording sample on the "Secondhandsongs"
(youtube with green background) does not match the actual music sample from V-Disc 646.

I wonder what an oldies DJ (oldies presenter) should play as the last song when he retires after many years of working
in a radio station...
"A Touch Of Velvet - A Sting Of Brass"?
"Sleepy Shores"?
"River Deep-Mountain High"?
Or simply "Roll Over Beethoven"?

Do you have any interesting tips?

I found that "discogs.com" link too.
So when you additionally found that the entry in the "Catalog of Copyright Entries" gives the same year, it is confirmed.
Charles Magnante gramophone records are probably quite rare, that's why his recordings are not even on the Internet and we can't hear them. They are only written about.

There seem to be quite a few videos on YouTube that claim to be authentic Magnante recordings. There's even one live video form 1946.

Roman,
I was hasty with the claim that Magnante's recordings are not on YouTube. They are and a lot. It is necessary to search well.
But unfortunately, I haven't found "Accordion Boogie" yet.

Do any of you know when Charles Magnante first recorded and released "Accordion Boogie"?
I believe it's actually his arrangement of Arthur Smith's "Guitar Boogie" in which he also used a small fragment of "The Hucklebuck".
What is your opinion?

Sorry to read this.

I saw Gerry Marsden in person several times in the early 2000's in Orillia and Niagara Falls & was a great fan of the original band.

In fact about 20 years ago I was in email contact with Les Chadwick the Pacemakers bass player who was a residnet of Sydney Australia. Mr. Chadwick passed a few years back of brain cancer.

Les Maguire was a child prodigy when it came to music and was proficient to the extreme on piano and saxaphone. In fact in his very early days in the group he played sax and not the piano. But that soon changed.

May he rest in peace.

Hi, unclefester,
Thanks for a nice summary of the facts.

Sometimes that information is important.
When I talk about the performer, I need to know if it should be in the present tense or the past tense. If he's alive or dead.

Is it really possible to hear the difference between the original recordings from the 60s and the new mixes?
Or is there just a better signal-to-noise ratio?

Or is the time 3:12 just a "commercial deception"?

The first 22 seconds of the video are taken up by the person showing that they are playing the same 45 that is shown on Discogs ... they show that the long version is on one side, then they flip it over to show that the short version is on the other (with a length of 3:12) before cueing it up. The sound seems to fade out around 3:32, which subtracting the original :22 would give a length of 3:10, but the playing time of the 45 is probably 3:12 and then the last few seconds of the video are when the stylus reaches the deadwax. Hope that helps.

Lorne,
please accept my apology, sorry for the unnecessary question. I just didn't get it.
I need to use my brain more next time...
So, this short version was created by cutting out the middle section and an earlier fade-out.

I'm not entirely convinced that compiling such information makes sense.
Sixty or fifty years ago, releasing singles was governed by different business and other rules.
It cannot be compared.
Sorry, my English is poor, I can't express myself exactly. But I hope it is clear what I mean,
what I want to say.
And the fact that it is counted only from 1958 is of course a disadvantage for Elvis.

I would like to write the following on the subject:
Both English (PYE) and German (Vogue Schallplatten) versions of the song were probably sold in Germany.
I have printed versions of German singles TOP 10. These TOP 10 list PYE as the publisher of that hit each week.
All other Petula Clark German hits are listed - Vogue.
It can therefore be assumed that the share of the German-sung version on the first place in the chart was negligible.
Or do you have another explanation?

The 50 greatest reggae songs of all time, ranked - Smooth (smoothradio.com)

I believe there are too many Bob Marley songs in this list. And many songs are missing.
Hurt So Good, Double Barrel, Let Your Yeah Be Yeah, Young Gifted And Black (Bob & Marcia), Help Me Make It Through The Night (John Holt), Midnight Rider, Stop The Train, Train To Skaville, Moon River (Greyhound )...

And many performers are missing - The Maytals, The Melodians,...
